Even a small # of scholars have points that add up over time....yes, of course with the boni they're better (eventually attaining if not surpassing a 1:1 ratio), but small housing adds to your incremental net gains in land which helps with o/c.

i prefer to focus my peasants on making or taking land in the early stages... then once i have land and am defending it well, i get scholars spire and do housing reserch...and war, arch, pres all up to about 30 points

Okay. Scholars make sense. What is o/c?

Humans are very good for researching, but they don't use the scholar's spire. I guess scholars are late game for other races.

o/c over crowding... loss of morale due to having more than 1.5 peasants per acre of land

I see. One can either buy more land, research housing, get entertainers, or stop immigration, right?

And is it worth it to go for full walls when one's not Keldis or use the peasants to get more shields? I guess the moral bonus's worth it...but is it that much help? Probably not late game when people have navies, what about early/mid?

Thanks,

once you have grandmine... use a the spell Miners might and do a massive stone pile... then rush the walls in. the morale is worth it..

Ah.. Okay, so it's not worth it early game to waste that many peasants on engineers/quarrymen to get full walls for the extra shields.

I didn't know that Grand Mine helped quarrymen too, that's very valuable then. :)

in age 52 i got quite a good early land lead and got to archers.. i had a couple of agressive empires after me... so it was worth taking the time to get full walls and some navy... so that they would have to upkeep bigger armies to beat me... and the morale was quite a good bonus too.
